County of Los Angeles Fire Department Fire Station 46 Groundbreaking Ceremony

Santa Clarita, CA – Today, Los Angeles County Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger was joined by County of Los Angeles Fire Department Chief Deputy Jon O’Brien, along with local leaders and officials, to break ground on the new Fire Station 46 in Valencia.

Fire Station 46 will be a 13,341 square-foot, fully solar building designed to meet net-zero energy goals.  The spacious layout features two apparatus bays to house one engine and a paramedic squad, alongside a barn for three reserve units.  It also includes dormitory quarters designed for up to ten personnel.

“The groundbreaking of Fire Station 46 represents a promise to our community that public safety remains a top priority,” said Los Angeles County Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “In the face of growing wildfire threats and emergencies across our region, this state-of-the-art station will help protect lives, strengthen emergency response, and give residents greater peace of mind. When Fire Station 46 opens in October 2027, it will stand as a lasting investment in the safety, preparedness, and resilience of the Santa Clarita Valley and surrounding communities.”

“Today’s groundbreaking for Fire Station 46 marks an exciting new chapter in our Department’s service to Valencia,” said Chief Deputy Jon O’Brien.  “As the permanent home of Engine and Paramedic Squad 46, this new fire station will ensure we continue delivering the exemplary care the Santa Clarita Valley relies on.”

Scheduled for completion in the Fall of 2027, the new fire station will enhance emergency response times and accommodate future population growth in the Santa Clarita Valley.
