- Gun Violence Awareness
- LA County Library has partnered with the Office of Violence Prevention to offer free gun locks at our 6 Tool Lending Library locations: Compton, Lancaster, Malibu, Norwalk, Rosemead, and San Fernando. Each household may receive up to 2 free gun locks along with essential gun safety education materials. No personal information, including name, identification, telephone number, or library cards, will be required to obtain a gun lock.

The Wear Orange Community Event is a time to come together in remembrance, healing, advocacy, and hope. This special event will include community resources, food, entertainment, and opportunities to unite in support of safer neighborhoods and stronger communities. Families, friends, advocates, and community leaders are invited to stand together to raise awareness, support those impacted by violence, and encourage action toward ending gun violence. - Gun Buy Back Event – Supervisor Janice Hahn and the City of Long Beach are partnering for a Gun Buy Back Event. Exchange your guns for gift cards during this completely anonymous gun back event. Firearms must be transported unloaded in the trunk of a vehicle. For more information, contact the Long Beach Police Department Communications Division at (562) 570-5273.

If you live closer to the valleys or the foothills, local health facilities partner with the county to provide 24/7 access:- Pasadena: The Pasadena Public Health Department (1845 N. Fair Oaks Ave.), the Hastings Branch Library (3325 E. Orange Grove Blvd.), and Villa Parke Branch Library (363 E. Villa St.) provide free locks year-round to all local residents without requiring identification.
- Pomona: Pomona Valley Hospital Medical Center (PVHMC) provides free cable locks 24/7 right outside their Emergency Department lobby.
- Online Mail-Order: If you cannot make it to a physical location, you can request free locks shipped directly to your home through the county-backed initiative at LockedAndUnloaded.org or via the national safety campaign Project ChildSafe.
