MALIBU FOUNDATION DONATES SLING DEVICE TO LACoFD TO ASSIST WITH LARGE ANIMAL RESCUES

WHAT:

The Malibu Foundation is generously donating a sling device to the County of Los Angeles Fire Department to assist firefighters with large animal rescues.

This donation comes to the LACoFD following a horse rescue that took place in January of 2023, in which firefighters assigned to Fire Stations 70, 71, and 99 responded to.  During that rescue, firefighters created a makeshift sling out of hoses to save the horse.  The horse’s owner who works with the Malibu Foundation worked to get a sling donated to local firefighters for future rescues.

The horse saved in the January 2023 rescue, along with their owner, will be at the presentation.

LACoFD Assistant Fire Chief Drew Smith will be joined by representatives from the Malibu Foundation, along with councilmembers from the City of Malibu.
