District Attorney Gascón Announces Charges Against Men in Murder of Street Vendor in Long Beach
Two men are charged in the murder of a Long Beach street vendor on March 20
LONG BEACH, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Rahman Abdallah and Raylon Akers have been charged with allegedly murdering a street corn vendor, Yener Ramirez, in the city of Long Beach on March 20. Another man, James Havlicheck, also was charged with accessory after the fact in the killing of Ramirez.
“We are deeply saddened and outraged by the tragic and senseless murder of Mr. Yener Ramirez, a hardworking street vendor who was violently taken away from us while simply doing his job,” District Attorney Gascón said. “No one should ever fear for their life while trying to make an honest living. Mr. Ramirez’s untimely death is a stark reminder of the violence that can shatter lives and devastate families.
“The suspects’ callous disregard for human life is unacceptable, and we will not tolerate such violence in our community. Our office will work to ensure that those responsible are held accountable for their actions.”
Rahman Snook Abdallah (dob 9/08/2004) is charged in case 24LBCF00896 with one count of murder.
Raylon Deshawn Akers (dob 5/11/2001) is charged with one count of murder; and one count of felon in possession of a firearm – prior(s).
