LA County Releases Resources to Combat Identity-Based Hate, Antisemitism

Following Los Angeles County Board Chair Lindsey P. Horvath’s motion to strengthen Jewish community safety and combat identity-based hate earlier this year, the County’s Anti-Racism, Diversity, and Inclusion Initiative (ARDI) releases new resources to address identity-based hate and violence.

“Los Angeles County is committed to building bridges and seeking understanding across our diverse communities so that every neighborhood is protected from hatred and violence,” said LA County Board Chair Lindsey P. Horvath. “Through these resource guides, LA County is providing accessible, actionable information and supports to address antisemitism and instances of hate.”

Beyond ARDI, other County departments are coordinating to intentionally support our diverse communities. Contributing offices include: the County’s Human Relations Commission and the LA vs. Hate initiative, Department of Public Health Office of Violence Prevention, CEO Office of Emergency Management, Department of Mental Health, Sheriff’s Department, District Attorney’s Office, County Counsel, and other relevant County entities and community stakeholders.

We were proud to be a part of early discussions with ARDI to increase Jewish community safety and address anti-LGBTQ+ hate in our county,” said ADL Los Angeles Regional Director Jeffrey Abrams. “This victim-centric and proactive approach is exactly the kind of collaborative effort that can make a real difference in our community. We are grateful to ARDI for always partnering with local leaders and organizations to gain a true understanding of the issues marginalized communities face across Los Angeles.”

These resources provide ways to report antisemitic incidents and other forms of hate and bias, comprehensive lists of social service programs within L.A. county, and solutions that incorporate a holistic and equitable approach to combating hate. We are proud that LA County is setting a precedent for meaningful change in our community so that, together, we can build a future where every individual feels valued, safe, and supported.”
