Supervisors Approve Assessor Prang’s Nomination of Amanda Susskind as Inaugural Ethics Commissioner

Los Angeles, CA — The Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Los Angeles County Assessor Jeff Prang’s nomination of legal and campaign finance expert Amanda Susskind to serve as a member of the inaugural Los Angeles County Ethics Commission.

The Los Angeles County Ethics Commission is an independent oversight body established through Measure G to promote ethics, accountability and transparency in County government. The framework recommended by the Governance Reform Task Force and adopted by the Board of Supervisors designated the Assessor to nominate a commissioner with a background in campaign finance, accounting, auditing, compliance with ethics laws in the public or private sector, or whistleblower protection.

“The appointment of the Commission’s inaugural members is an important milestone in implementing Measure G and establishing independent ethics oversight within the County, Prang said. “I am confident that Ms. Susskind will serve the County well and make a valuable contribution to the work of the Ethics Commission.”

Susskind previously served as a Senior Deputy County Counsel for Los Angeles County, where she handled matters involving public finance, the Brown Act, property taxation, redevelopment and other areas of public law. She later served as a city attorney and advised cities, counties, school districts and other public agencies.

Susskind subsequently held leadership positions with the Anti-Defamation League, Teach Democracy and the Shakespeare Center of Los Angeles. Her responsibilities in those roles included organizational operations, financial management, strategic planning and programs focused on civic engagement, civil rights, education and inclusion.

The Board of Supervisors unanimously approved Susskind’s appointment during its regular board meeting on Sept. 15.
