Each year the Commission for Women recognizes women who work to bring about social and economic change, promote women’s equality, serve as outstanding role models for women, work on behalf of women’s issues and demonstrate outstanding performance to further advocate women’s rights.

The “Women of the Year” Awards recognizes women who are outstanding role models for over 5 million women in the County of Los Angeles. District Awardees are selected by each Los Angeles County Board of Supervisor, Community At-Large Awardees are selected by the Commission for Women in the following nine categories: 1. Arts/Media, 2. Business/Labor, 3. Community Advocacy, 4. Education, 5. Equity, Diversity, and Inclusion, 6. Health, 7. Law/Public Safety, 8. Sports (Athletics), and 9. Women Veterans. The President’s award is selected by the President of the Los Angeles County Commission for Women.

This year’s theme is “WOMEN WHO ADVOCATE FOR EQUITY, DIVERSITY, AND INCLUSION”, will be held on Monday, March 18, 2024, at the Sheraton Grand Los Angeles, in commemoration of Women’s History Month.

The Commission for Women welcomes nominations of individuals whose achievements meet the established eligibility criteria to receive recognition in celebration of Women’s History Month. Nominations can be submitted at: https://forms.office.com/g/vvTrDHTxs9.  Deadline for accepting nominations is Friday, November 24, 2023, at 5:00 p.m.
