Castaic Animal Care Center to be Renamed
Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Department of Animal Care and Control (DACC) is excited to announce the renaming of the Castaic Animal Care Center to the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center. This change reflects our commitment to serving the entire Santa Clarita Valley community and enhancing our outreach efforts to promote animal welfare.
To celebrate this significant milestone, DACC will host a special adoption event, the Poppy Bloom Adoption Event, on April 25, 2026, where adoption fees will be waived for animals at the Santa Clarita Valley Animal Care Center. This is an incredible opportunity for families looking to welcome a new furry friend into their homes.
The adoption event will feature a festive “Poppy Parade,” where staff will showcase many of our adoptable pets, giving them the exposure they deserve in hopes of finding them loving forever homes. The parade will take place throughout the care center, allowing attendees to meet and interact with the animals up for adoption.
County and City of Santa Clarita officials will be present to honor the renaming of the care center and to show their support for animal welfare in our community. This event is a wonderful opportunity to reunite the community to celebrate the importance of animal adoption and responsible pet ownership.
“Our goal is to raise awareness for both animals and families in the Santa Clarita Valley,” said Director Marcia Mayeda. “Renaming the animal care center is a reflection of our dedication to this vibrant community that has grown tremendously since the ACC was built in 1972. We hope renaming the ACC increases visitation to the Santa Clarita Valley ACC and results in even more adoptions.”
Join us on April 25, 2026, beginning at 10 a.m. for a day of fun, community spirit, and the chance to find your new best friend. Together we can make a difference in the lives of animals and families throughout the Santa Clarita Valley.
“This name change reflects what’s always been true: a steadfast commitment to caring for the well-being of animals in Castaic and across the entire Santa Clarita Valley,” said Supervisor Kathryn Barger. “With a new name comes renewed excitement and opportunities for our residents to get involved. I am hopeful for what the future has in store as we continue to prioritize adoptions and services for our North County communities.”
