LA County Library Activates Cooling Centers At 21 Locations During Excessive Heat Warning From August 21–23

Los Angeles County, CA – In response to the excessive heat warning issued for Los Angeles County, 21 LA County Library locations have been designated as cooling centers. These locations will offer extended hours beyond their normal operations from August 21 – 23.

All LA County Library locations remain open to the public during their regular business hours, where visitors can access full library services, air conditioning, and a wide range of resources. The designated cooling centers listed below will provide additional hours into the evening for those needing a safe, cool place to escape the heat.

“LA County Library is committed to supporting the health and well-being of our neighbors,” said Skye Patrick, County Librarian and Director of LA County Library. “We urge everyone to take advantage of these cooling centers and to take necessary precautions to stay safe during this excessive heat warning.”

The designated cooling centers will provide a comfortable, air-conditioned environment and access to water and restrooms. Wi-Fi will also be available for personal devices. During cooling center–only hours, no library services will be offered.
