COMMERCE, CA — The Los Angeles County Child Support Services Department (CSSD), in coordination with 47 regional and local child support agencies throughout California, joins the nation in observing August as Child Support Awareness Month. This annual observance underscores the shared responsibility of parents in raising their kids and recognizes the vital role child support services play in supporting stability for children.

CSSD provides comprehensive services to assist parents at every stage of the child support process, including locating parents, arranging genetic testing, securing healthcare coverage for children, establishing and modifying court orders, and managing payment collection and distribution. These services are available free or at low cost to ensure equitable access for all families.

In observance of Child Support Awareness Month, CSSD will host a series of events throughout August to raise awareness and strengthen community engagement, including:

• School supply drives that support families as children prepare to return to school
• In-person outreach events to provide parents direct access to information and guidance regarding child support services
• A bilingual social media toolkit distributed to County partners to broaden awareness across diverse communities

Since 2001, CSSD has provided neutral and accessible services to fathers, mothers, and guardians throughout Los Angeles County. Parents may apply for services online at cssd.lacounty.gov, contact a child support specialist at (866) 901-3212, or visit any office location for in-person assistance. Parents with active cases may also access account information at any time through Customer Connect at childsupport.ca.gov.
