UPDATE: INCIDENT AT LOS PADRINOS JUVENILE HALL

DOWNEY- At approximately 8 a.m. today, LA County Probation staff responded to a suspected overdose and possible exposure to an unidentified substance at Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall. Staff immediately administered Narcan prior to the arrival of emergency personnel.

All individuals involved were transported to local hospitals for further evaluation. Currently, six staff members and one youth are alert and in stable condition, with the youth and some staff expected to be released this afternoon.

The facility remains on lockdown and all programming is suspended until further notice. We would like to thank our staff, local fire and law enforcement partners for their support this morning. The safety of youth and staff is paramount to the Department.

We will continue to share information as it becomes available
