LA County Statement on Ongoing Federal Immigration Actions and Related Protests
In the face of the federal immigration actions and related protests taking place in our communities and on our streets, Los Angeles County affirms our commitment to following the law, upholding our residents’ rights to peacefully demonstrate and continuing to prioritize service to the public in keeping with the policies established by the Board of Supervisors.
Under Board policy, County property and facilities are designated “sensitive locations,” with law enforcement immigration actions in non-public areas limited “to the greatest extent permissible by law” to avoid disrupting County services and operations. To read the full policy, click here.
Regardless of immigration status, LA County residents have constitutional rights. The County’s Office of Immigrant Affairs has created “Know Your Rights” information and other resources that are available at oia.lacounty.gov in English and Spanish.
We encourage residents to stay safe when exercising their First Amendment rights and to monitor media reports for the latest information on street closures or other breaking news.
