JCOD to Host Countywide Events During Second Chance Month
LOS ANGELES – The Los Angeles County Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) will host a robust series of events throughout April in recognition of Second Chance Month, reaffirming its commitment to supporting justice-involved individuals and their successful reintegration into society.
On March 19, 2024, the Los Angeles County Board of Supervisors passed a motion, authored by Supervisor Hilda L. Solis, officially proclaiming April 2024 as Second Chance Month and designating the last week of April as Reentry Week. The motion highlighted the County’s commitment to reducing recidivism, fostering redemption, improving outcomes, and advancing healing for justice-impacted individuals through programs centered on reentry support, restorative justice, culturally responsive services, and trauma-informed care.
Building on this commitment, JCOD will present a series of events across all five Supervisorial districts this month. These events are designed to connect formerly incarcerated individuals with vital resources, community support, and opportunities for growth.
Planned Activities Include:
Community Resource Fairs – Offering access to job training, mental health services, legal assistance, housing support, and more.
