LA County Library Celebrates
Women’s History Month

Join us for a month of inspiring events honoring the achievements of women in history and today.

Los Angeles County, CA – In honor of Women’s History Month, LA County Library is proud to offer a dynamic lineup of events and programs throughout March. These activities are designed to celebrate the achievements of women and provide opportunities for all ages to learn about, engage with, and recognize the vital contributions women have made to history, culture, and contemporary society.

LA County Library will feature a variety of programs showcasing women’s accomplishments, from trailblazing figures in history to modern-day pioneers.

A selection of events is below:

Trailblazers in Conversation with Shelia, Sylvia, & Melissa Burlock
March 13, 2025, 6 PM (Virtual)
Join County Librarian Skye Patrick for an insightful virtual discussion with natural hair advocates Shelia, Sylvia, and Melissa Burlock. The conversation will explore the rich history of Black hair and its significant role in women’s lives.

Women in STEM
March 22, 2025, 2- 3 PM | Diamond Bar Library
Children ages 7-11 are invited to celebrate Women’s History Month by discovering the inspiring stories of women trailblazers in STEM. Participants will also engage in a fun, hands-on STEM activity.

We Can Do It
March 22, 2025, 11 am and  2 pm | Culver City Julian Dixon Library
The Ebell of Los Angeles presents “We Can Do It!,” a 1940s-era imaginative and musical story about the remarkable women who shaped Los Angeles, inspired by Rosie the Riveters of World War II.

Black Mamas & Maternal Mortality
March 28, 2025, 3 – 5 PM | Black Resource Center at AC Bilbrew Library
Join Black mothers, birth workers, and healthcare professionals for an important discussion on the critical issue of maternal mortality and the health disparities affecting Black communities.

“LA County Library is excited to honor the diverse voices and contributions of women throughout history and within our communities,” said Skye Patrick, County Librarian at LA County Library. “These programs provide meaningful opportunities for learning, reflection, and community engagement, and we are proud to offer them to the public.”
