Los Angeles General Medical Center Celebrates 42nd Annual CARES Holiday Gift Program for Patients and Their Families
LOS ANGELES, CA – Los Angeles General Medical Center is proud to announce the 42nd annual CARES Giving Program, a cherished community tradition that brings joy and relief to over 1,200 children and families each holiday season. In partnership with the National Charity League of San Marino and many generous donors, the program provided Santa Sacks filled with toys, gifts, fresh food, and warm clothing to those in need.
The CARES Holiday Giving Program, which began 42 years ago, has grown each year, touching the lives of more families in the Los Angeles area. This holiday season, over 1,200 children—patients of Los Angeles General, their siblings, and children of patients—received gifts. Each Santa Sack, valued at $100-$150, is filled with carefully selected items to bring cheer to children aged 0-17 years.
With the support of Los Angeles General’s Social Work Department, 447 families (1,242 children) have already been referred to the program, and more referrals are expected up to Christmas Eve. This ensures that as many children and families as possible benefit from the initiative.
“Through the dedication of our partners, volunteers, and community supporters, the CARES program continues to provide warmth and hope to families during a time of year that can be especially challenging,” said Jorge Orozco, CEO of Los Angeles General Medical Center. “We are deeply grateful for the generosity that allows us to positively impact the lives of those in need.”
