LACoFD Hosts 2024 Contract Aircraft Media Day

WHAT:          

County of Los Angeles Fire Chief Anthony C. Marrone will host the annual contract aircraft media day and provide an update on the 2024 wildfire season.

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department (LACoFD) will feature its current fleet of aerial firefighting resources, including the seasonal arrival of the SuperScoopers from the Government of Québec, and the lease of a Coulson Group Chinook CH-47, known as Helitanker 55, made possible through a partnership with Southern California Edison.  These aircraft are critical resources, augmenting the LACoFD’s response during the wildfire season.

This is the 31^st year the LACoFD has leased a pair of CL-415 SuperScoopers from the Government of Québec which were placed in-service on Sunday, September 1, 2024.

Officials will provide a brief overview of the LACoFD’s Ready! Set! Go! program; along with Genasys Protect – Know Your Zone (formerly Zonehaven), designed to keep residents informed about the status of a wildfire threatening their community.
