LA County Library Extends Naloxone Clinics Through Fall 2024 and Receives NACo Achievement Award
Los Angeles County, CA – LA County Library, in partnership with the Los Angeles County Department of Public Health, is proud to announce the extension of its Naloxone Clinics until fall 2024. Additionally, the Library and Public Health were honored with an Achievement Award from the National Association of Counties (NACo) for their outstanding Naloxone Clinics initiative, recognizing the program’s significant contribution to help end the fentanyl epidemic in the County.
The Naloxone Clinics will continue to be held every Wednesday from 12 to 4 pm at 10 library locations. Each clinic provides a naloxone kit and training on how to identify an opioid overdose and how to administer the lifesaving medicine. Community members can obtain a kit without the need for identification, proof of insurance, or payment.
Since October 2023, the clinics have been a critical response to the opioid overdose crisis, particularly in high-risk areas. Following the successful pilot, the program expanded to ten locations in November 2023. As of June 2024, the Library has distributed over 4,500 doses of Naloxone to over 1,800 LA County residents.

We are also deeply honored to receive the NACo Achievement Award, which highlights the importance of our work in providing life-saving support and education to our neighbors.”
The NACo Achievement Award underscores the impactful work of the Naloxone Clinics. These awards celebrate innovative county government programs that enhance services for residents.

- El Monte Library
- Lancaster Library
- Leland R. Weaver Library
- Lennox Library
- Norwalk Library
- San Fernando Library
- Temple City Library
- West Hollywood Library
