LA County Library Celebrates Earth Day with Special Author Talk Featuring Journalist Rosanna Xia in Conversation with Board of Supervisors Chair Lindsey P. Horvath

Join the Discussion on Preserving California’s Coastlines and Environmental Challenges

Los Angeles County, CA – LA County Library will host an enlightening Author Talk featuring Board of Supervisors Chair, Lindsey P. Horvath, and Rosanna Xia, an acclaimed environmental reporter for the Los Angeles Times on Earth Day, Monday, April 22, from 3 – 4 pm at West Hollywood Library.

“I’m excited to join Rosanna and our LA County Library for a conversation about the dangers of sea level rise and protection of our precious coast in celebration of Earth Day,” said Board Chair Lindsey P. Horvath. “LA County is investing in nature-based solutions to coastal erosion, and I look forward to hearing Rosanna’s perspective on adapting to our ever-changing climate.”

“We are thrilled to host this Earth Day themed Author Talk,” said LA County Library Director Skye Patrick. “It’s a unique opportunity to bring together community members with leading voices like Chair Horvath and Rosanna Xia to explore critical environmental issues and celebrate our commitment to sustainability.”

Throughout her career, Chair Horvath has been an advocate for environmental sustainability. She played a pivotal role in the development of environmental policies in Los Angeles County, authoring crucial motions to establish a Coastal Resiliency Plan and leading the implementation of the County’s Water Plan.

Joining Chair Horvath is Rosanna Xia, a Pulitzer Prize finalist in 2020 for her explanatory reporting on coastal and oceanic issues. Xia’s work was featured in the Best American Science and Nature Writing series, and her book, California Against the Sea, received praise for its exploration of human connections to natural environments.

This Earth Day, gain valuable insights from two leading figures in environmental advocacy. The event is free and open to the public, but space is limited. For more information and to register, go to bit.ly/HorvathXiaTalk.
