Fourth Post-Election Night Ballot Count Update for the 2024 Presidential Primary Election

LOS ANGELES – Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean C. Logan announced the fourth post-Election Night ballot count update for the March 5, 2024 Presidential Primary Election.

The update includes 99,357 ballots processed since the third Post-Election Night update. The total election results count is now 1,317,224, which is 23.19% of registered voters. Election results can be viewed on LAVOTE.GOV.

The next ballot count update will be on Monday, March 11. The full schedule of updates can be viewed on the Canvass Update Schedule.

The estimate of outstanding ballots to be processed is 308,500. See estimates below:

  • Vote by Mail ballots (VBM): 300,000
  • Conditional Voter Registration ballots: 8,000
  • Provisional ballots: 500

This adjusted estimate includes Vote by Mail ballots received in the mail today and the estimated number of ballots returned at Vote Centers and Official Ballot Drop Boxes on Election Day.

The number of outstanding Vote by Mail ballots will increase as the RR/CC continues to accept ballots postmarked by Election Day and received through Tuesday, March 12 (E+7). These ballots are not included in the estimate.

Outstanding estimates are Countywide and are not currently available by jurisdiction as ballots are received and processed in batches throughout the county. The RR/CC prioritizes the timely processing, verifying, and counting outstanding ballots in the Official Election Canvass.

The Official Election Canvass is a 30-day period in which the RR/CC processes and verifies all outstanding ballots to ensure that every eligible ballot cast by Election Day is counted.
