Food and Nutrition services offer support for older adults who may be experiencing food insecurity. These resources provide information as to where older adults and dependent adults may qualify to access health-conscious meals, financial subsidies for food, and other nutrition programs.
FOOD ACCESS
Free meals are provided for adults aged 60 and older at local senior and community centers to improve and maintain their physical and social well-being. Alhough the Congregate Meals Program does not require participants to pay for meals, a suggested voluntary contrition is appreciated. For more information please call 1(800) 510-2020.
Through the LA County Department of Public Social Services, older adults may be eligible for financial assistance to purchase food.

The Home-Delivered Meals Program is designed specifically for home-bound individuals aged 60 and older. This valuable program not only delivers a nutritious meal on a daily basis, but also serves as a mechanism to check up on clients, thereby providing an additional safety inspection and furthering the ability for them to remain at home. SUPPORTIVE SERVICES AND GUIDANCE
This program provides free diet and nutrition seminars designed to improve the knowledge, behaviors, and environment of culturally diverse low-income older adults who frequent Congregate Meal sites. The program also encourages active lifestyles and healthy food choices within a limited budget. NOTE: We are currently operating this program virtually only.

The Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of programming for older adults available in LA County Parks, including Healthy Senior Meal Programs, outdoor activities, and senior clubs.
L.A. FOUND
L.A. Found offers a free tracking device for individuals with Alzheimer’s, dementia, autism, or other cognitive impairments who are prone to wandering. Caregivers and family members can get the tracking device and training for free.
