LA County proclaimed June as “Gun Violence Awareness Month” in LA County. Access information and resources from county departments below.

LA County Library 

  • Gun Violence Awareness
  • LA County Library is giving away gun locks at our 6 Tool Lending Library locations: Compton, Lancaster, Malibu, Norwalk, Rosemead, and San Fernando. Each household may receive up to 2 free gun locks along with essential gun safety education materials. No personal information, including name, identification, telephone number, or library cards, will be required to obtain a gun lock.

  • Office of Violence Prevention’s Community Event & Resource Fair – Gun violence is a public health crisis that affects individuals, families, and entire communities. Join us in raising awareness and promoting prevention. This free family-friendly event will feature firearm safety education and resources, free gun locks – no questions asked, guest speakers and local organizations offering support and services, community healing activities, including yoga, art, and a sound bath to honor all lives impacted by gun violence.

  • Community Resource Center Wilmington Gun Safety and Violence Prevention Panel – Together for Safer Communities: CRC Wilmington, along with the L.A. Care Health Equity Department, invites you to attend the Gun Safety and Violence Prevention Panel. This conversation will feature voices from the community, the Los Angeles County Office of Violence Prevention, and others. Free gun locks and gun safety resources will be distributed.Please call the Community Resource Center at (213) 428-1490 for questions and pre-registration. Children are welcome to view a kid-friendly movie during this event! Light refreshments will be provided. This discussion will also be interpreted in Spanish.
  • Wear Orange Block Party at the Mural – All are welcome to join as we observe National Gun Violence Awareness Day and Wear Orange Weekend. Join us for food, fun, music, vendors and community support.
