LA County Fire Department

The County of Los Angeles Fire Department, in collaboration with the Los Bomberos de LA County, is hosting a Community Emergency Response Team training. This in-person training will be conducted over three-consecutive days beginning September 20, 2024 at the East LA Library.

Wednesday, September 17: Jazz Esta Morto offers an electrifying evening of samba soul as the legendary Azymuth takes the stage with Marcos Valle.

Saturday, September 21: Noche de Cumbia promises a musical and visual exploration of the origins of the beloved Afro-Indigenous sounds we know as Cumbia, featuring an all-star lineup of Son Rompe Pera (Mexico), Reyna Tropical (U.S.), and Los Gaiteros de San Jacinto (Colombia).

Sunday, September 29: Un Fandanguito con Caña Dulce y Caña Brava With both grace and vibrancy, the women-led group infuses new life into traditional music from Veracruz, Mexico. Energetic dancing and percussive stomping accompany their innovative arrangements for harp and guitars to amplify the sounds and sentiments of son jarocho, the centuries-old tradition rooted in Spanish, African, and Native cultures.

Saturday, October 12 – Sunday, October 13: The 8th Annual Boleros De Noche returns to The Ford for a two-night affair featuring Trio Los Panchos and Los Caramelos.

Join LA County Sheriffs Department for their first annual Hispanic Heritage Month event on October 3, 2024 at the Hall of Justice in Downtown LA.

District Attorney

LA County District Attorney’s Latine Advisory Board Presents, “Breaking the Cycle: Incarceration of Latine Youth”

Join District Attorney George Gascón, LA District Attorney’s Latine Advisory Board, the Probation Oversight Commission, service providers and advocates for a panel discussion addressing the state of Latine youth in the criminal justice system. The discussion will focus on systemic issues contributing to the disproportionate incarceration of Latine youth, including racial inequities and socio-economic barriers.

Experts, community leaders, and youth advocates will share insights on community-based interventions, prevention strategies, and actionable steps toward creating thriving communities. This event is aimed at fostering open dialogue, increasing transparency, and finding solutions that support Latine youth.
