To promote further integration of age-friendly communities, these programs and services support the social well-being of older adults. From socialization programs to recreational and fitness activities, these services enable and support older and dependent adults in thriving in their community.
ANIMAL CARE
Subsidized cost of spay/neuter surgery for pets of all persons age 60 and over.
A reduced dog licensing fee is available for older adults (60 years of age or older) in the unincorporated areas of LA County and many contract cities.
ARTS AND CULTURE
Create+Collaborate is a free 10-session virtual printmaking class designed for elder adults (ages 65+) who are seeking to learn new skills and join a community of peers. Through active participation, be inspired by LACMA’s collection, experiment with different printmaking techniques, and contribute to the collaborative spirit of the class.
Unique fine arts program for people with Alzheimer’s disease or other dementias that offers a creative and non-verbal way of communicating and capturing precious moments through art.
Reduced general admission of $16 is available for adults 65+
OUTDOOR ACTIVITIES, PARKS AND RECREATION
The Department of Parks and Recreation is offering a variety of programming for older adults available in LA County Parks, including Healthy Senior Meal Programs, outdoor activities, and senior clubs.
On the Move Riders Program connects you to new friends who can teach you about going Metro. Learn from peers who know the ins and outs of getting around on public transportation – then take a test ride together.
The LA County Sr. Golf Card provides reduced green fees for older adults 65 years old and older. In order to receive the reduced fee, a card must be purchased at an LA County Golf Course for $28.00, which is valid for one year. The Department’s LA County Golf System is a network of 20 golf courses, which helps promote physical and emotional well-being. Many programs are offered for older adults, juniors, and women.

CAREGIVING SUPPORT PROGRAMS
Support is provided to informal family caregivers and grandparents raising grandchildren. Services include caregiver support group, training, counseling, respite, and other supplemental services. This program is administered by Program is administered by WDACS- Area Agency on Aging.

FAMILY SUPPORT SERVICES
Adoption Promotion and Support Services provide support services available to grandparents or elder adults and their families throughout the adoption process, from the beginning as they begin to understand what it might mean to adopt their grandchildren and even after the finalization, as they adjust to the new role of parent.
The Department of Child Support Services my assist relative and non-relative caregivers who are caring for abused and neglected youth with services, resources and support including emergency financial assistance, linkage to services and advocacy. This includes assistance during active case efforts as well as post-termination and permanency efforts.
Assistance program that help seniors and elder adults caring for children by linking them to an array of social services including CalFresh, General Relief, HealthCare services, and Meal programs.
SOCIAL & RECREATIONAL ACTIVITIES
L.A. County Aging & Disabilities Department’s Community and Senior Centers offer a wide range of of services and social activities for local communities. These centers provide opportunities for daily learning, skills development, community engagement, social interaction, and healthy living for residents of all ages.
VOLUNTEER SERVICES
This volunteer and internship program connects older adults who have the time, interest, and expertise to provide assistance and other services to the LA County Department of Children and Family Services with the goal of supporting children, families, and their community.
