CalFire and LA County officials provide an update on the Franklin Fire.
Evacuation Terminology Definitions
- Evacuation Order: Immediate threat to life. This is a lawful order to LEAVE NOW. The area is lawfully closed to public access.
- Evacuation Warning: Potential threat to life and/or property. Those who require additional time to evacuate, and those with pets and livestock should leave now.
- Shelter In Place: Go indoors. Shut and lock doors and windows. Prepare to self-sustain until further notice and/or contacted by emergency personnel for additional direction.

Evacuation Warnings:Â
- Evacuation Warnings are in effect for portions of Malibu, to include areas cleared for repopulation by residents. View a map of Evacuation Areas on Genasys Protect.
Shelter in Place
- Per Pepperdine University, the Shelter in Place protocol for the campus was activated and all members of the campus community are to follow instructions from University officials.

LA County Library
- The Malibu Library is closed due to the Franklin Fire. Please visit LACountyLibrary.org to access online resources
Public Health reminds residents in the affected areas to take precautions to protect their health and well-being after a fire. When returning home after a fire, it is important to know the proper steps and actions to take to clean, rebuild and recover safely.

Road Closures/Cierres de Carrerteras:
- Pacific Coast Highway closed between Tuna Canyon Road and Latigo Canyon Road. Will only be open to residents with official ID.
- Los Virgenes Road at Mulholland Highway
