LA County Invites Public to Weigh in on $54.2 Billion County Budget

Residents urged to share priorities for County services through online surveys

The County of Los Angeles is asking residents to share their priorities for County programs and services through a series of short online surveys, open now through October 31.

Residents are invited to identify the services they value most, recommend programs for increased or reduced funding, highlight underserved communities and geographic areas, propose new services and suggest improvements to service delivery. Surveys include a countywide questionnaire plus surveys for each of the 39 County departments. Residents can fill out surveys for as many departments as they like.

“The County’s budget reflects its values. Our overarching goal in building the budget, especially during challenging times, is to ensure that we are maintaining safety net services and meeting the most essential needs of our communities,” said Chief Executive Officer Joseph M. Nicchitta. “That includes everything from health and mental health care to making sure elections are secure and transparent, from emergency operations to supporting our justice system. Getting a broad view of how the public thinks about and values these services is an important part of the County’s work.”

Surveys are anonymous unless respondents proactively choose to share their contact information. Responses will be reviewed by departments and used to inform budget planning for Fiscal Year 2027-28, which begins July 1, 2027.

Surveys are available at ceo.lacounty.gov/surveys/.

The County’s 2027-28 Recommended Budget will be presented to the Board of Supervisors in April 2027.
