L.A. County Begins Mailing Vote by Mail Ballots for the 2026 General Election

LOS ANGELES — Los Angeles County Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk (RR/CC) Dean C. Logan announced the mailing of Vote by Mail (VBM) ballots to all registered voters for the November 3, 2026 General Election.

“With Vote by Mail ballots arriving soon, voters can begin making their plan and don’t have to wait until Election Day to vote,” said Dean C. Logan, Registrar-Recorder/County Clerk. “This is a long ballot, so we encourage voters to take the time to review their choices and, when they’re ready, vote and return their ballot early. Voting early is convenient for voters and allows our office to begin processing ballots sooner so more can be included in Election Night results.”

Voters can track their ballot every step of the way with the Where’s My Ballot? tool – a free subscription that sends automatic notifications by text, email, or voicemail on the status of the ballot.

The RR/CC provides voters with multiple convenient options to return their ballot, including:

  • Drop off at any one of 400+Official Ballot Drop Box locations across Los Angeles County,
  • Return by mail, no postage required. Voters should return ballots early, at least seven (7) days before Election Day to ensure timely delivery,
  • Drop off at a local Vote Center beginning October 24.

Voters should review their ballot and instructions carefully and remember to sign and date their Return Envelope before returning it.

Sample Ballot Books continue to be mailed to all registered voters. Due to separate production timelines, some voters may receive their Vote by Mail ballot before their Sample Ballot Book.

Eligible voters who have not registered and want to vote by mail must register to vote by October 19, 2026, to receive a ballot by mail.

The RR/CC is proud to offer election materials in English and 18 additional languages. Voters can request these materials in their preferred language by returning the Language Request Form found at the back of the Sample Ballot Book or by contacting our office at (800) 815-2666, option 3. Spanish language assistance is also available by calling (213) 358-2770. Additional language lines are available at LAVOTE.GOV.
