LA County Library Celebrates National Library Week, Inviting Residents to Find Their Joy at the Library

Los Angeles County, CA – LA County Library is inviting residents to celebrate National Library Week, April 20-25, 2026, with special events and activities across the County that encourage customers of all ages to explore, create, and connect. This year’s theme, “Find Your Joy,” highlights the many ways libraries help transform lives and strengthen communities.

Throughout the week, LA County Library locations will host a variety of programs that reflect the joy of reading, learning, and self-expression. Featured events include:

• Book Club: They Called Us Enemy — Tuesday, April 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. Community members are are invited to join the largest book club on the West Coast and discuss They Called Us Enemy as part of One Book, One Coast initiative.
• Author Talk: What the Deep Water Knows with Miranda Cowley Heller — Wednesday, April 22 from 11 a.m. to 12 p.m. This virtual event features Miranda Cowley Heller discussing her poetry collection.
• Japanese American Watercolor Landscapes — Wednesday, April 22 from 6 to 7 p.m. This One Book, One Coast program invites participants to create watercolor art inspired by Japanese American landscapes.
• Book and Art: How To Be a Good Creature and Pressed Flower Floating Frame — Thursday, April 23 from 10 to 11:30 a.m. Participants are invited to discuss How To Be a Good Creature and create pressed flower floating frame art.
• Tea for the Soul — Friday, April 24 from 12 to 1 p.m. This mindfulness workshop invites participants to enjoy tea, meditation, song, and community.
• Teen Fridays — Friday, April 24 from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. Teens  are invited to expand their minds, get creative, and build skills through gaming, music, art, fashion, writing and more while enjoying snacks.
• Ms. Bits N Bobs Visits the Land of Imagination — Saturday, April 25 from 11:00 a.m. to 11:30 a.m. This family-friendly program exploring spring blossoms, trees, and imagination through interactive storytelling and activities.
