LA Health Services Statement on Alhambra Police Officer Sanders

Los Angeles General Medical Center extends our deepest condolences to the family, colleagues, and loved ones of the fallen officer, Alhambra Police Officer Sanders. This is a profound loss for the law-enforcement community and for our entire region.

Because of strict federal and state privacy laws, we cannot disclose specific medical details about any patient or their care. However, we can share that our trauma team — led by Dr. Kenji Inaba, Los Angeles General Chief of Surgery — responded immediately and did everything in their power to save him. Despite the tireless efforts of our expert surgeons, nurses, and emergency specialists, the officer ultimately succumbed to his injuries.

Dr. Inaba is a world-renowned trauma surgeon, who also serves as the Medical Director and reserve police officer with the LAPD, and has provided life-saving training to members of law enforcement. His commitment to service reflects the values of the entire trauma program at Los Angeles General. His dedication to public service reflects the values and excellence of the Trauma Program at LA General Medical Center.
