Los Angeles County Probation Department Arrests Civilian Worker for Alleged Drug Smuggling into Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall
Downey, CA — The Los Angeles County Probation Department today announced the arrest of a civilian contract worker for allegedly attempting to smuggle narcotics into Los Padrinos Juvenile Hall.
On June 30, 2025, at approximately 11:30 a.m., members of the Department’s Intelligence and Investigative Services Unit (IISU) detained and subsequently arrested Alejandro Lopez, an employee of the non-profit organization Student Nest, while he was on duty inside the facility.
Investigators observed Mr. Lopez engaged in some suspicious activity and immediately responded to the scene. Upon further evaluation, found more than 170 white pills.
Mr. Lopez was taken into custody without incident and will be booked with possession of a controlled substance in a juvenile institution, as well as child endangerment.
“This type of behavior is unacceptable and represents a clear threat to the safety and well-being of the youth and staff in our institutions,” said Guillermo Viera Rosa, Chief Probation Officer. “We are grateful for the swift action of our investigative team and our law enforcement partners. We remain committed to ensuring a secure environment for youth, staff, and our community partners.”
The case remains under active investigation and is being supported by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department. No further information is available at this time.
