LA County Library Prepares For Impact Of SEIU 721 Strike
Temporary Interruptions and Possible Library Closures Expected April 28 – April 30, 2025
Los Angeles County, CA – LA County Library is actively preparing for potential interruptions to library services and temporary closures of library locations due to the upcoming strike by SEIU 721, scheduled to begin on Monday, April 28 at 7:00 pm and end on Wednesday, April 30 at 6:59 pm.
While specific locations that may be affected are not yet known, the Library is taking steps to minimize disruptions and keep customers informed.
Important Details:
- Library locations may experience temporary closures or service disruptions during the strike.
- The Library’s book drops will remain open for customers to return books.
- LA County Library’s Digital Library, accessible at LACountyLibrary.org/digital-library, will be available 24/7 for digital resources, including eBooks, audiobooks, and online learning tools.

“We are closely monitoring the situation and are preparing our operations for the strike’s potential impact on library services,” said Skye Patrick, County Librarian at LA County Library. “In the event we have to temporarily close our libraries, we recommend customers access our Digital Library, which is open 24/7. We encourage customers to stay informed by checking our website for regular updates as the events unfold.”
