JCOD Celebrates Grand Opening of D.O.O.R.S Antelope Valley Facility Expanding Reentry Services for Justice-Involved Individuals

LANCASTER – The Justice, Care and Opportunities Department (JCOD) celebrated the grand opening of the Developing Opportunities and Offering Reentry Solutions (D.O.O.R.S) Antelope Valley facility on Wednesday.

The new center, located at 1753 W. Avenue J Unit B in Lancaster, marks a significant expansion of reentry services in the region, providing comprehensive support for justice-involved individuals and their families.

The D.O.O.R.S program aims to support the needs of individuals transitioning back into the community after involvement in the justice system. The 5,000 square-foot facility serves as a transformative hub, offering a safe and welcoming environment where clients can access essential resources, including housing support, employment assistance, educational support and mental health services.

“This center is a promise to provide accessible, effective, and compassionate support for those who need it most. We’re providing a foundation for justice-involved individuals to rebuild their lives and rejoin their families and communities with dignity,” said JCOD Director Judge Songhai Armstead (Ret). “We are deeply committed to serving the Antelope Valley community and meeting the unique needs of its residents.”

The Antelope Valley facility is expected to receive over 2,500 referrals for service each year. The D.O.O.R.S facility in South Los Angeles has already served over 4,000 individuals in just over a two-year span, highlighting the program’s impact.

“Data shows that strategic supportive services reduce recidivism,” Fifth District Supervisor Kathryn Barger said. “At the new D.O.O.R.S. site, Antelope Valley residents who’ve left our justice system will have a one stop shop for the resources they need to reintegrate into our communities and set forward on a path to a brighter future. Our new brick-and-mortar facility will ensure people know they have a dedicated space for career, education, mental health, and housing help all in one place. I’m confident that this permanent facility will equip clients to make permanent changes in their lives.”
