District Attorney Gascón Announces Attempted Murder Charge Against Man in Attack of Woman at Pasadena Metro Station

Juan Flores is charged with allegedly attempting to murder a woman at the Allen A Line Metro station in Pasadena on August 7

PASADENA, CA – Los Angeles County District Attorney George Gascón announced today that Juan Flores has been charged with allegedly attempting to murder a woman at a Metro station next to the 210 Freeway in the city of Pasadena after he physically assaulted her and threw her into oncoming traffic on the freeway’s carpool lane on August 7.

“Our thoughts are with the victim and her loved ones as she begins her journey toward recovery following this horrific attack,” said District Attorney Gascón. “No one should have to endure such brutality, and everyone deserves to go about their day without fear for their safety. We will not tolerate violence on our transit system and will continue holding those responsible fully accountable for their actions.”

Juan Pablo Flores (dob 4/19/91) is charged in case 24PDCF00432 with two felonies: one count of attempted murder; and one count of mayhem.

Arraignment is scheduled for Tuesday, August 13, in Dept. D of the Pasadena Courthouse. Scheduled bail in this matter is $2,000,000.

On August 7, at approximately 5:30 a.m., Flores allegedly attacked the victim who was at the Allen Metro station on the A Line (formerly the Gold Line), in the city of Pasadena. Flores allegedly assaulted and threw the victim onto the train tracks and then onto the carpool lane of the nearby 210 Freeway. The victim was transported to the hospital. Flores was arrested shortly after the attack.

If convicted as charged, Flores faces a maximum sentence of life in prison.

The case is being investigated by the Los Angeles County Sheriff’s Department.
