Veteran Women’s Summit to be Held at Patriotic Hall

MVA hosts first-ever veteran women specific forum focused on challenges and solutions

LOS ANGELES, CA – On Saturday, the Department of Military and Veterans Affairs will host their first-ever annual summit focused on the unique challenges and issues faced by women who serve in the armed forces.

Supervisors Hilda Solis and Lindsey Horvath will address the summit, as well as the California Secretary of Veterans Affairs Lindsey Sin.

The summit will open at 9:00 a.m. at Patriotic Hall in downtown Los Angeles and will feature two panel discussions with a variety of women veterans.

“A lot of work has been done to improve the services and resources available to veterans in general, but unfortunately that has not always extended to the unique challenges facing women who served,” said Chief Deputy Director Zuleyda Santana. “Our hope is that this summit will continue the process of bridging that gap.”

County veterans, active service members and their families with resources, programs, services and state and federal benefits, including: compensation and pension claims, burial benefits and services, medical and mental health referral, education and vocational rehabilitation, home loans and grant applications, employment and job placement assistance, DMV veteran designation, legal service referrals, appeal processes, programs for incarcerated veterans, as well as aid and attendance.
