Swim Beaches/Nature Centers Reduce Hours
- Due to budget cuts, the County will reduce the hours of operation of its nature centers and three lake swim beaches during the summer. The modified schedule is effective July 6.
Animal Shelters Open Longer During Fourth of July Weekend
- The County is expanding the hours of operation of its animal shelters over the Fourth of July weekend to help unite owners with pets that may become lost. The loud noise of fireworks can cause dogs and cats to panic, run from their property and become disoriented.

211 LA County 211 is an easy to remember three-digit dialing code that enables a caller to access information about more than 28,000 health and human service programs throughout Los Angeles County 24 hours a day, seven days a week and is TTY accessible. 211 LA County, formerly known as INFO Line of Los Angeles, has been providing these services since 1981.
Cities There are 88 cities in Los Angeles County, each with its own city council. All of the cities, in varying degrees, contract with the County to provide municipal services. More than 65 percent of the County is unincorporated and approximately 1 million people live in these areas. The Board of Supervisors acts as the "city council" and County departments provide the municipal services.
