TIGER is short for Topologically Integrated
Geographic Encoding and Referencing system. It is a set of files maintained and
published by the Bureau of the Census that
contain information regarding streets, cities, census tracts and census blocks
for all 50 states. The version used for redistricting in Los Angeles County is
the Redistricting 2000 Tiger/Line file.
The redistricting version of
TIGER contains all the Census 2000 entities except for the Zip Code Tabulation
Areas, and the address ranges are the same as in the 1999 version of the file.
For more information, please visit Redistricting
Census 2000.
