Access Plan
________________________________
Consistent with the County's commitment
to promote public participation in the redistricting process, the Public
Access Plan seeks to ensure the widest practicable participation and
dissemination of pertinent redistricting information. Redistricting
information will be made available on this County Internet Web site.
The Boundary Review Committee will hold Community Meetings, public hearings,
a redistricting kit has been developed, and public access to a County
Redistricting Work
Site will be established to foster public participation in addition
to other traditional public access.
- Community Meetings: In
order to facilitate the broadest possible public participation and
to promote public education in this import effort, the Boundary Review
Committee has expanded the public access plan to include community
outreach meetings to be held during the evening hours in various communities
of the County. The outreach meetings will be conducted in February,
March, and April 2001. These meetings will address legal requirements
for redistricting, time frames, public access procedures and the role
of the Boundary Review Committee. Further, they will provide and opportunity
for the public to advise the Committee on issues of concern with regard
to the redistricting process. A listing of all scheduled community
meetings, as well as summaries of those meetings already conducted,
can be found on the Schedule of Important
Dates & Committee Meetings Web page.
- Public Meetings: A series
of public meetings on redistricting will provide opportunities for
persons interested in the redistricting process and potential changes
in Supervisorial district boundaries to offer public comment and to
communicate with Boundary Review Committee members. A listing of all
scheduled public meetings can be found on the Schedule of Important
Dates & Committee Meetings Web page.
