Since the Countywide launch of Performance Counts!, County staff and consultants have made various presentations to train County employees and evaluate progress of the initiative.

    July 23, 2003 Orientation Presentation – This presentation was originally given to launch the countywide roll-out of Performance Counts! It provides basic information on the program as well as original roll-out plan. The presentation can be customized by department to assist in training of their own employees.

    Phase II Pilot Evaluation Report to the Guiding Coalition – This report provided to the Guiding Coalition in May 2005 reviews the County’s progress in implementing Performance Counts! and the specific results of the Phase II Integration Pilot.

Many County departments are experimenting with innovative uses of Performance Counts! information to improve their performance. The County’s Strategic Plan included strategies to test the use of performance based decision-making based on successful national models. Beginning in Spring 2005, the LA County Department of Public Social Services was the pilot site for a program to test the efficacy of the “STATS” process, first introduced to fight crime in NYC under the name “COMPSTATS,” as a strategy for improving the performance of the County in its delivery of social services to its residents.
